TESTIMONIALS
Life is a continuing transition. I have had dogs for most of my life. When I was
a kid I had a German Shepherd named Shatzy that only my father could
"control" but he became too much even for him. Shatzy "disappeared one day
and was replaced with a Dalmatian also named Shatzy. This was my fathers
attempt to trick a five year old in to thinking that Shatzy was always a white
dog with black spots and not a hundred pound black dog with a tan face.
Then Dalmatian Shatzy was given away because he barked constantly and no
one could make him stop. This introduced us to our poodle named Cokey. He was
a good dog, my mom trained him. We had him for thirteen years before he got
too ill and he had to be "taken to a farm and given a good home with other dogs
that could take care of him."
Cokey was my last dog until I got married to my wife Kim. We immediately got
Kira, a little terrier mix that grew to a whopping thirty pounds. I took her
every where with me. I trained her through books and trial and error. Things
went great. Kira was social and well behaved. Then we got Nikko.
Nikko is a Lab/Chow mix. My wife and I made the mistake of thinking that since
Kira was such a good dog that Nikko would be well behaved as well. My wife
and I were too busy with our lives and our new daughter to socialize Nikko the
way we should have. This was entirely our fault. We took him to friends houses
but never to the dog park or to other peoples homes that had dogs. Five years
later Kira became very ill and we lost her. As a lot of people do when they lose
one animal we immediately went out and found ZAK, a golden retriever puppy.
We brought him home and found out the Nikko had some issues with other dogs.
It took us two weeks to get Nikko to accept the new puppy with out trying to
eat him. We knew we needed help. We read more books, we watched more
shows but we still knew we needed help.
We came across Absolute Control Dog Training at a Demo they were doing. We
signed up for Perry to come out and evaluate our situation. My wife and I were
impressed with Perry from minute one. We signed up with ACDT and started
heading to the group training lessons where we met Tracie and Alicia, who have
been outstanding assets to helping us get Nikko back on track to being the dog
he should be. That was about six months ago. We still have Nikko and Zak and
things are getting better every day. So much so that we have now added to our
family SHEA (German Shepherd), Cody (Poodle mix) and Diesel ( Belgian
Malinois).
We apply what we have learned through ACDT every day and I am so happy to
tell you Nikko is getting along with every one and even my seven year old
daughter can control almost any situation that comes up. Thanks to every one
at ACDT. Your knowledge, professionalism and caring has helped us to achieve
a happier house hold. We now have the tools to deal with any situation with any
of our dogs and other peoples dogs as well.
Sincerely,
Richard Maurer and family
