I have been a dog owner since I was 5, but until I joined your training program
I have never enjoyed my dogs so much. In the past I had a pet, now I have a
buddy. My Golden Lab, Banx, was a pet I bought after my yellow lab passed
away. I wanted more from Banx then another pet, I wanted to do things with
him and take him places and have him with me in the yard when I was doing
things. Even if it was just riding in the car without having fits.
The point I'm trying to make is, what a difference. This past week I was in the
Outer Banks camping along with Banx and Ripley (our Golden Retriever pup)
now attending your classes. I thought it would be a mistake to take them both
camping. WOW, I was wrong. As you might not know pets need to be leashed.
Well, I put them on a leash and they hated it. I thought I would try to remove
the leashes and in turn put up with the campground complaining. Well, it was the
opposite of that, the people around with their dogs were in envy. They all said,
"how can we get ours dogs to do that." My dogs are great, well behaved and
well mannered. The puppy even shocked me.
Going deeper into the camping story: Early one morning I go out on the beach
with my vehicle. I was running the dogs on the beach when a Ranger pulls up.
He wanted to know why the dogs were not on leashes. I explained to him about
remote collar training. He was impressed. The next morning while out with my
dogs the Ranger again showed up with two other Rangers and their dog. I
showed them how the remote training collars worked with their dog. They
were stunned. Within five minutes their dog was no longer pulling their arms
out of their sockets. Each morning, they returned to get more help. They went
and bought a cheap version of a remote collar so that they can continue the
training. I felt great knowing that they will soon have a friend instead of a pet.
I also helped a camper with their dog who had a bad leg. The dog could not get
into the trailer so they made a ramp. The dog would not go up the ramp. I
used the remote collar and with a little training the dog went up and down the
ramp. The dog learned as did the owners.
I realize the sweat in the training field paid off. You and your staff did an
excellent job and we will continue to move forward with the training. I must
say thank you and some day I hope to be a trainer next to you and your staff.
A dog is more than a pet.....its a friend.
