This is a note of thanks -- to the owners, staff, and fellow clients of
Absolute Control Dog Training.
I've always had dogs, and have been involved with German Shepherd rescue
for many years. Training has always been a part of owning dogs for me, and
I've been to many different kinds of classes, and trained for many hours on
my own. But in spite of all that, I was completely at a loss to change the
course of inappropriate behavior from one of my rescued boys as he
matured.
I would take Axel somewhere with me, and he would misbehave and make
loud displays. Eventually, I took him fewer and fewer places until he was
almost always left at home, waiting forlornly at the door until I returned.
This may not sound like a big deal to some, but it was heartbreaking for me
-- this dog is completely devoted to me, and I am his world. Leaving him
behind whenever I left the house was just about the worst thing I could do
to him. In spite of everything I had tried to stop it from happening, Axel's
universe was shrinking. Nothing had worked to bring his energy into focus,
or his behavior under control. I loved my dog too much to give up, but
neither did I know what else to do.
Enter Perry, and the family of staff and clients at ACDT.
After just a few weeks of training, I have a happy dog who can go almost
anywhere with me. Let me say that again, because it's still such a new
concept for me -- after trying everything under the sun for the past seven
years and getting nowhere, I NOW HAVE A HAPPY DOG WHO CAN GO
ALMOST ANYWHERE WITH ME after just a few weeks of training at
ACDT!
So, to the staff and fellow clients -- thank you for welcoming Axel and me
into your midst. I have never trained with a nicer group of people, nor
experienced such a sense of teamwork and fun in a training class -- you're
the best!
And to Perry -- thank you so very much for believing in Axel's ability to
change his ways and reach his full potential, and for teaching me a whole new
way to help him do it. Your ability to bring out the best in a dog is
remarkable. Others may try to imitate your training methods, but they
cannot imitate the depth and breadth of your knowledge and experience.
ACDT has truly put the joy back into my dog's life, and for that, I thank you
from the bottom of my heart.
