Hunting Retriever Training
As an ACDT obedience training client, you have the option of enrolling
your dog in our hunting retriever training classes. These classes are
scheduled periodically, and are limited to 10 dog and handler teams
per class.
Classes are conducted by Tim Shull and are scheduled once a week
for four weeks. Classes will start at our Kerry Court arena, and then
move to other locations during each session. The training series
culminates with a half-day field exercise (land and water) on the
Saturday morning following the last class.
Training for hunting activities addresses:
* Crate training and transport
* Marking
* The use of scent location
* Conditioned retrieve and delivery to hand
* Steady to bird and shot
* Land (on bare ground and in cover) and water work
* Working through decoys
* Blind and boat use
Dog handlers will all participate in supporting the training exercises
(throwing bumpers, etc.).
