Ricky Gittens

Rick's relationship with ACDT began in 2005, when he became a client with his American Pit Bull
Terrier, Gotti.   He eventually acquired his second dog, a UKC-registered American Pit Bull
Terrier named Zeus, that was saved by ACDT from being destroyed.   Rick enjoyed working
with both of his dogs in group obedience and protection sport classes, and eventually
developed an interest in becoming a trainer himself -- a position for which he had already
shown considerable talent.

Rick was certified as a trainer, and now teaches both beginner and advanced classes.  His
training exercises are creative, challenging, and fun for the dogs and their handlers, and Ricky
provides well-timed individual coaching to help sharpen specific skills.  His advanced classes
are impressive to watch -- Rick is always finding new ways to raise the bar on performance,
and his students love it!

Ricky is always willing to talk about the breed of dog that he believes is generally
misunderstood by the public, and often mishandled by irresponsible owners, so if you love Pit
Bulls, come on out and talk to Rick!

When he is not out in the arena or on the field conducting classes, Rick continues in his
long-standing and demanding career as a New Jersey State Corrections Officer.
